Pastor Arrested for Disturbing the Peace
[WMCTV.com] A Mid-South church is at odds with the neighborhood where it stands.
Colonial Hills Church is located on Highway 51, just north of Goodman Road, in Southaven.
People who live nearby say worship services inside the church are just too loud. They claim the bass from church speakers makes their houses vibrate.
Allyson Malone says it's so bad she has to leave her house. Church leaders say they do what they can to keep the noise down.
"We are steadily adjusting our sound and music and we have spent several thousand dollars ah and to adjust our sound levels," said Joe Kelley of Colonial Hills Church.
Neighbors argue the church has not made enough adjustments to the sound levels. One Church pastor arrested for disturbing the peaceman swore out an affidavit claiming the church played its music excessively loud and a student pastor at Colonial Hills was arrested and charged this week with disturbing the peace.

Well, that's one way of getting the gospel out to the neighborhood...

Y'know, after all I hear about "the seperation of church and state" I just get upset at stuff like this--people go to great lengths to make sure that "the church doesn't tell the state what to do" ... but when do we get to have it so "the state doesn't tell the church what to do" ???
Okay, I apologize for just ranting...

If they attended another church on Sunday morning they wouldn't be bothered by the music at this church.

That is crazy.... If they are going to do that then they need to do something about these young people driving down the during the day and night that can't even hear they're own car run from having the music up so loud...

Is there no one around to speak up for the good name of Christ? All things may be permissible, but not all things are beneficial. Just humble yourselves and turn down the bass. I wouldn't want my windows rattling with gangsta rap music, so why would my neighbors want theirs rattling with Christian music?

I looked up the complaint and it wasn't for loud music at Sunday services, it was for loud music at student/youth meetings 7 to 10 p.m. several days a week.
Loud music from a Youth Ministry meeting? That's a little easier to believe. And it was the Student Ministry Pastor who was charged with disturbing the peace.
